Romyzian Garden

One Man’s Love Became
a Healing Forest.
A Garden Blossomed with
the Wisdom of Life

Welcome to Romyzian Garden, where love has blossomed into a forest.
One man’s deep love has become a healing forest embracing a weary world.

Nestled on the mountainside of Jeongseon, Gangwon Province, at an elevation of 550
meters, Romyzian Garden is far more than a tourist destination.
For 16 years, this place was lovingly created for a beloved wife — a heartfelt tribute
to life and a forest of self-reflection where visitors may rediscover themselves.

Romy and Jian — A Miracle Created by Two Hearts

As they witnessed the wife, who had suffered from bronchial asthma,
gradually regain her health through the fresh air and warm sunlight of this place,
the couple began shaping the forest into a sanctuary for all who seek love, rest, and recovery.
After 16 years of devotion, this vast landscape of over 330,000 square meters has blossomed
into a certified “Healing Forest” recognized by the Korea Forest Service.

Theme 3
A Journey to the Paleozoic Era

During the creation of the garden, traces of Paleozoic geology were discovered by chance.
This space preserves those ancient marks of time just as they were found.

  • Aura of the Heavenly Cliff

    While building the Mountain House,
a massive rock wall hidden beneath the earth revealed itself.
Captivated by the overwhelming aura that seemed to radiate hundreds of millions of years of energy, the founder altered the original design to preserve the cliff and named it “Aura of the Heavenly Cliff.”
This extraordinary cliff is where gray limestone formed in a warm sea 450 million years ago
meets brown slate created from hardened mud 310 million years ago.
The folded layers of rock, bent by immense tectonic forces, vividly reveal the dynamic
energy that shaped the Korean Peninsula.

Standing before these monumental rocks shaped over countless ages,
set down your worries for a moment and feel the majestic vitality of nature
and the energy of the heavens.
  • Jeongseon’s Smile Carved by Time

The red earthen cliffs stretching like a folding screen
evoke the majestic landscapes of Sedona, USA.
These remarkable rock formations are precious geological relics
formed around 300 million years ago, when Jeongseon and
Yeongwol were submerged beneath a deep ancient sea.
Within the limestone, layered over immense spans of time from marine sediment and calcium deposits, ancient traces of life still remain.
Among them are fossils of crinoids,
ancient marine creatures often called sea lilies.
The crinoid fossils found here are especially large and well-preserved,
like a time capsule holding memories of Earth itself.

Before these red cliffs carrying the breath of ancient seas,
pause for a moment and experience the primal mystery
and quiet serenity whispered by the earth.
  • The Noble Breath of a
    400-Million-Year-Old Sea
    “Millennial Silence”

Hidden deep within the mountains of Jeongseon, the hill called “Millennial Silence”
emerges as a mystical place preserving the untouched memory of the Paleozoic era.
Millions of years ago, the regions of Jeongseon, Yeongwol,
and Taebaek were once part of a vast blue sea.
After remaining buried beneath layers of earth for over 400 million years, these Paleozoic
traces eventually rose above the surface as towering cliffs reaching toward the sky.
Look closely at the wave-like patterns etched into the rock face.
They are vivid records of ancient currents that once flowed through this primordial sea.
The traces of the sea found atop the mountains create a strange yet magnificent
spectacle — a moving experience found only at “Millennial Silence” in Romyzian Garden.
